Today in my quiet time I was reading in My Utmost for His Highest. Today’s devotional was about serving God with ‘Undaunted Radiance’.
I am just going to put in a small portion of what it said…
“The surf that distresses the ordinary swimmer produces in the surf-rider the super-joy of going clean through it. Apply that to our own circumstances, these very things – tribulation, distress, persecution, produce in us the super-joy; they are not things to fight. We are more than conquerors through Him in all these things, not in spite of them, but in the midst of them. The saint never knows the joy of the Lord in spite of tribulation, but because of it – ‘I am exceedingly joyful in all our tribulation,’ says Paul.”
That was such a good reminder to me on how I need to not be just surviving but have a ‘super-joy’ through everything that comes my way! I have such a hope that the world does not have. God is so faithful!!! He will never leave us or forsake us. I want to have that ‘super-joy’!!!

Thanks so much for posting that – I needed it today. It reminds me of something in Ask Marilyn. Somebody asked why some people experience intense fear when riding roller coasters, skydiving, etc., and other people experience intense excitement. Her response was that it is probably the same chemicals rushing to the brain, but some people interpret them as fear, and other people interpret them as joy. We can either be overwhelmed with fear of the waves God sends us, or filled with the thrill of surfing them. Love you, Trina!

Thanks so much for a wonderful time. I realized after I got home that I didn’t ever get a picture of you and me together 🙁 I told Mom and she replied “hmm, guess you’ll just have to go back for another visit”
