While in AL, I attended my first ever college football game with
Colton and Katelynn, Byron and Capers Whatley, LauraAnn, Daniel and
David Bond and Conner Knapp. Now, I like football. It is great fun to
watch. In NM we went to high-school football games quite often, but I
had no idea what it was like to go to a college football game.
It
was quite the experience! Auburn got creamed by Arkanas (which was
great fun to tease the Whatley’s about
not that I did that, of
course. I think it was Byron who was threatening to give me four flat
tires on my car.
). Really though it was a lot of fun and a great
cultural experience. I also learned something… while at the game we
were quite a ways off the field and could not see details very well.
From where we were it looked like the refs made some really bad calls.
After we got home, we were talking to our parents about it (who stayed
in the nice cool house, on a nice comfortable couch and watched it on a
big TV and didn’t pay $4 for a bottle of water
) and they were
saying that they could see up close because the camera was there by the
field. They told us that in reality all the calls made were legitimate
and that watching from different angles they could see it from a
different perspective than we could. Even though we were there and
watching it live, they had a different angle. How many times do we jump
to conclusions before we really know what is going on? We think that we
can see clearly and make a judgement based on what we can see. I think
that a lot of times we need to step back and look at it from another
perspective and angle. My minister in the church where I grew up
preached a sermon once about dully-noting and dismissing people. He
said that we will look at the appearance of someone or something they
are doing and dismiss them without another thought. God calls us to
see the heart as Jesus did. Remember the story about the women who just
put two mites in (Mark 12:41-44), it was such a small amount, but Jesus
was looking at the heart. In the right perspective it was more than all
the others gold because it was all she had. To someone looking on it
might have seemed cheap, but to someone who knew the situation it was
far from cheap. Things are not always what they appear (I think that is
a Bill Jack quote
).
I wish I had some pictures to show you, but all of us forgot to take a camera…

Football in the South…
Here is one I found on the web.It was a lot of fun. Thank you, Whatleys, for a great time and a great weekend! -
Back again…
The conference was great!!! It was so good to see everyone! I think that we all had a major lack of sleep and I am so exhausted. Next week, my goal is to catch up on sleep.
New profile picture was taken by a dear friend – Katie Karmen. Thanks, Katie!!!
So, I am back at work. It is so hard to get back in the swing of things after being gone…
I am going down to Alabama to some friends’ house this evening. My family is there. I am looking forward to it.
Other news : Wednesday was one year since I started my Xanga.
It doesn’t seem like that long ago, yet on the other hand it seems like forever ago.…my random ramblings…
I was reading Psalm 107 & 108:1 yesterday and was reminded once again of God’s loving-kindness and that whether I feel like it or not, God is still pouring out His loving-kindness on me. In spite of (or rather in the midst of or even because of) my circumstances I still have to make a choice to praise Him for His loving-kindness. So last night on the way home I had a 40 min drive. I made a choice to sing praises to God. It wasn’t that my circumstances changed or that I instantly had a peace, but I was encouraged that I serve such a loving, wonderful God who wraps His arms around me and holds me.Psalms 107 (New King James)
1 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is
good!
For His mercy endures
forever.
2 Let the redeemed
of the LORD say so,
Whom He has redeemed from
the hand of the enemy,
3 And gathered out
of the lands,
From the east and from
the west,
From the north and from
the south.4 They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate
way;
They found no city to
dwell in.
5 Hungry and
thirsty,
Their soul fainted in
them.
6 Then they cried
out to the LORD in their trouble,
And He delivered
them out of their distresses.
7 And He led them forth
by the right way,
That they might go to a
city for a dwelling place.
8 Oh, that men
would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness,
And for His
wonderful works to the children of men!
9 For He satisfies
the longing soul,
And fills the hungry soul
with goodness.10 Those who sat in
darkness and in the shadow of death,
Bound in affliction and
irons—
11 Because they
rebelled against the words of God,
And despised the counsel
of the Most High,
12 Therefore He
brought down their heart with labor;
They fell down, and there
was none to help.
13 Then they cried
out to the LORD in their trouble,
And He saved them
out of their distresses.
14 He brought them
out of darkness and the shadow of death,
And broke their chains in
pieces.
15 Oh, that men
would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness,
And for His
wonderful works to the children of men!
16 For He has broken
the gates of bronze,
And cut the bars of iron
in two.17 Fools, because of
their transgression,
And because of their
iniquities, were afflicted.
18 Their soul
abhorred all manner of food,
And they drew near to the
gates of death.
19 Then they cried
out to the LORD in their trouble,
And He saved them
out of their distresses.
20 He sent His word
and healed them,
And delivered them
from their destructions.
21 Oh, that men
would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness,
And for His
wonderful works to the children of men!
22 Let them
sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving,
And declare His works
with rejoicing.23 Those who go down
to the sea in ships,
Who do business on great
waters,
24 They see the
works of the LORD,
And His wonders in the
deep.
25 For He commands
and raises the stormy wind,
Which lifts up the waves
of the sea.
26 They mount up to
the heavens,
They go down again to the
depths;
Their soul melts because
of trouble.
27 They reel to and
fro, and stagger like a drunken man,
And are at their wits’
end.
28 Then they cry out
to the LORD in their trouble,
And He brings them out of
their distresses.
29 He calms the
storm,
So that its waves are
still.
30 Then they are
glad because they are quiet;
So He guides them to
their desired haven.
31 Oh, that men
would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness,
And for His
wonderful works to the children of men!
32 Let them exalt
Him also in the assembly of the people,
And praise Him in the
company of the elders.33 He turns rivers
into a wilderness,
And the watersprings into
dry ground;
34 A fruitful land
into barrenness,
For the wickedness of
those who dwell in it.
35 He turns a
wilderness into pools of water,
And dry land into
watersprings.
36 There He makes
the hungry dwell,
That they may establish a
city for a dwelling place,
37 And sow fields
and plant vineyards,
That they may yield a
fruitful harvest.
38 He also blesses
them, and they multiply greatly;
And He does not let their
cattle decrease.39 When they are
diminished and brought low
Through oppression, affliction,
and sorrow,
40 He pours contempt
on princes,
And causes them to wander
in the wilderness where there is no way;
41 Yet He sets the
poor on high, far from affliction,
And makes their
families like a flock.
42 The righteous see
it and rejoice,
And all iniquity stops
its mouth.43 Whoever is
wise will observe these things,
And they will understand
the lovingkindness of the LORD.Psalm 108 (21st Century King James)
1 O
God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my inmost being. -
It’s official…
I am a resident of this great state! I got my driver’s license today.
Wow. It feels strange to be a resident anywhere besides NM. I think I
am going to have to get used to it.
In other news…
I am driving up to Nashville tomorrow to see my family and some
friends!!!
Can’t wait! Please pray for a safe trip for me and that
I can find where I am going without getting lost (I do have directions
)
Have a great rest of the week and God bless!!!

Update (that is not an original title)
It seems like I need to post an update about life…

The fund raiser went really well. We had a good turnout and everything ran smoothly. One of the Governor’s staff said it was one of the best events they had been to.
Shout-out to all my volunteers!!! Ya’ll did amazing! A special thanks to the Fowlers for hosting the event!!!
On Tuesday (wow it seems like weeks ago) we went to a golf tournament for a guy who is running for representative. We were volunteering. He put us over on the hole for the Hole-in-one mustang… next to the mustang (I really had to work on the not coveting thing
) We were there to make sure they stayed behind the line-thing (I do not play golf) . I tried to talk Representative Davis into giving the mustang to me (you know for sitting next to it all day, protecting it, etc.) if no one got a hole-in-one (which no one did). I don’t think I convinced him seeing as how I am not driving a new mustang. Maybe next time.
Then we went to the exhibit in Atlanta called from Abraham to Jesus. It was really cool.
On Wednesday the DC crew left.
The rest of my life has been office stuff…
Tomorrow I am going to clean my house and then go shopping with a dear friend from church!!! That will be fun.
Next Wednesday I get to see my family!!!!!!!!!! I am going to a conference in Nashville to meet them and then they are coming down here for a day or two! YIPEE!!!!!!! BTW- who all is coming to the conference that I haven’t talked to already
?
Well, there is my life in a nutshell…
I will leave you with a picture – These are some of my dear friends and my message to them is – I hope to see you all next week!!! -
Profile pic.
So… I got tired of looking at the old one.
Not sure about the new one. I might change it again.

!!!News Flash!!!

Prayers…
Hey y’all!
Just want to ask you to be praying for our fundraiser tomorrow. It is a brunch with Governor Perdue. Please pray that God will use this to bless the ministry, that all will go smoothly, that I won’t wreck the rental van while doing shuttles
(we have to shuttle people to their house) and that God will touch hearts to invest more into this ministry. It is going to be a lot of fun (except the leaving at 8am on a Saturday morning). Well, I need to run. Abby and I are going to go cook supper and watch Sahara. *grin* (that was for Annie) Oh yeah! Booyah!
Blessings and thanks for your prayers!
-me-PS Three posts in one week…aren’t you impressed.

New look?
Not sure if I like it, but I wanted something different… feedback?

Does it look ok how the picture thing overlaps the leaves? Should it overlap it more? less? how is the color of the text? too golden? -
Life…
Things here are going well. I am staying really busy (I stay out of trouble that way
). Jared McKinney is in the office for about a week volunteering and Aby Schmidt is coming in this week for a few weeks. I am working on getting ready for next season and some fund raisers that we are doing this fall. My church is starting a new hispanic ministry that I am getting involved in. I am really excited about it!
-There is an official update for you.
Here are my random ramblings…. and my funny stories from today- God has such a sense of humor…
technical things… I have decided I hate them! I finally have the internet working. Don’t ask how I did it or why all those cords and box things are strung across the kitchen and dinning room out into the hall. It is safer for you not to ask. (Mr. Donauty was laughing at me today because of it, I think he figured out why I would never get hired as a tech person.
) Moving on from the internet… the fax machine stopped receiving faxes. So, I unplugged everything and plugged it back in…nothing. (I had been working with it for the past two days) Next I start going through all the settings… nothing. Then I happen to look over and this little button that says auto-answer, there is no light on next to it. It was turned off… Moving on to printers…Jared needed to print something today, IT WOULD NOT WORK!!! So, I worked with it and worked with it and worked with it… nothing. I decided to check all the cords… it was unplugged from the computer. my crazy day made me laugh and I share it in hopes that you have a good laugh too.
God does have sense of humor. I am glad He puts these things in our lives to make us step back and laugh. This is the verse that has been an encouragement to me lately…
“The LORD Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”Duet 31:8Next item on agenda- I am thinking about changing the looks of this site…. i see a lot of purple. hmmm.

Randomness
i am in a really strange mood today (ask Lydia, nevermind – don’t).
i am almost hyper, but not really. my desk is a mess.
i have a lot to do and i am having a hard time focusing…
i am finding the corny side of my sense of humor coming out today and that i have quick comebacks… it always worries me when that happens.
so, i tried to talk Lydia into not living a normal life (whatever that means) today. we wouldn’t run away, we would just turn off our phones, lock the door and be crazy… unfortunately we do not always get to do what we think best.
oh well – next time.
pray for those around me today…
hehehe*edit*
Tomorrow is my b-day. wwwwhhhhhhhhaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!! -
I know…
It has been forever and a day since I posted.
Quick update: So, just to let all of you know – I am still alive. Things are going fine. My summer has been really busy. I will update on that more later… I promise.
God is really teaching me a lot. I am learning to depend on Him so much more. He is so amazing and awesome!!! Here is an encouraging verse He gave me.“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles”
~Isaiah 40:31~Well there is a quick update for now…
